Hi there! Basketball season is upon us, and I thought this would be a fun card to make for your favorite basketball player or fan. This DIY Basketball Birthday Card can be used to wish them a good game, a good season, or even a great birthday.

Supplies Used:
- Basketball SVG Files
- Cardstock in your choice of colors
- A2 Card base 4.25×5.5” when folded
- White cardstock for card panel
- Adhesive
- Cutting machine, such as a Cricut machine or Silhouette Cameo
- Adhesive foam
- Optional: brown ink and black paint for splatter
Import the assembled SVG file into your cutting machine software. I am using Silhouette Studio. Create a 4.25 x 5.5” card panel on the screen to help with sizing for the card. Choose the design you want for your card and remove the others.

Click the Text Tool and type the text of your choice. I typed: “Go Get ‘Em!” Select your text and fill with black to make it easier to see. Choose a font of your choice. I plan on cutting this out and a chunky font works better. I am using a font called: Strawberry Dreams Block.

Grab that circle and drag the text to the top of the basketball backboard as shown:

The text will grab onto the shape, and you can adjust it to the desired position. You can also adjust the size and spacing. Select the entire design with the text attached, then ungroup. This will even ungroup each letter of the phrase.
Cut the pieces from the desired colored cardstock. NOTE: If you struggle with small pieces, consider using adhesive vinyl for the letters, net, or ball features. My machine cut them perfectly with paper and I use tweezers to handle them for gluing and placement.

For the background, I want to use the team colors of red and gray. I cut strips of the two colors in various widths. I don’t want them all the same. I cut enough to cover the whole card panel

Glue the strips to the card panel. Let them hang off the edges.

Once all glued, turn the panel over and trim the overhanging edges.

Optional – I used brown ink to add smudges to parts of the edges and black splatter paint to the background. This adds some interest to it.

Assemble and adhere the basketball, net, and text to the card panel. I used adhesive foam to pop up the ball a little.

Adhere the finished card panel to a card base.
I hope you enjoy this DIY Basketball Birthday Card and give it a try!
