Back to Basics – Beginner Scrapbook Layout

Beginner Scrapbook Layout

Good Morning Printable Cuttable Creatable and Scrapping For Tranquility Fans!

I, like many seasoned scrapbookers, like to make elaborate scrapbook pages. Then there are times I think back to when I was first starting out. How I felt reading a lot of the blog or store posts and wished they would make it for the “newbies” or the ones just learning to start to paper piece and/or scrapbook.

Well, that is what I hope to do today and with my future posts. I am going to “get back to basics”!  Today we are just going back to talk about just putting your pieces together and using only 1 piece of cardstock for your background.  NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS!

Back to Basics - Beginner Scrapbook Layout

Here is my layout for this week. My grandson starts preschool for the first time the first week of September. I wanted to get a step ahead and have his layout ready!

I used the fun files Lil Crayons & Pencils Banners Set SVG Cut File & Clipart to title my page. This was such a simple way to make my title.

I counted out my letters and made the banners I needed and the colors I wanted and cut them on my Silhouette Cameo 3.

I glued them together with my Bearly Art Glue. Picking a font I wanted, I sized it down to fit the banner oval. I wanted to spell out “First Day of Pre-School”. I made a shadow for my title to make it stand out more. In the picture, it is still hard to read but rest assured, in person, there is no problem reading it. LOL

Back to School Scrapbook Layout

Next, I used the awesome file Crayons & Pencils Circle Monogram Frames SVG Cut File & Clipart. I thought this would be such a fun frame to use for my grandson’s first day of preschool photos. I usually take one with his sign saying what grade he is going in and a picture with his teacher. So, 2 photo frames are what I was shooting for. I made them at 5 inches each and I also cut my black mat at 5 inches. I then took small adhesive foam tabs to make the frames pop up a bit.

Screen Shot 2022 08 14 at 6.19.48 PM

I left the bottom of the frame without the adhesive foam so I could fit the photo in as shown above. Of course, I will trim my photo to a round photo to fit. Then once I insert the photos I take, I will pop up the bottom of the frame with the foam squares.

Screen Shot 2022 08 14 at 6.19.23 PM

The only thing left was to journal.  Printable Cuttable Creatables has the cutest crayon borders called Colorful Crayons SVG Borders Set.  When I looked at them, I saw adorable journal prompts and I fell in love with them!  I ended up making six of them journals about his first day of preschool.

I used all primary colors for all my crayon pieces so I wanted something a little lighter for my background to make those pieces pop but still feel boyish.  I went with a light blue and I really loved how it turned out.

If you have any questions feel free to message me on my blog at Scrapping For Tranquility or my Facebook fan page at Scrapping For Tranquility  I would be happy to answer any and all questions and help out.  No question is too silly!

How to Make Rolled Paper Flowers – Easy Cricut Craft

Roller Paper Flowers Tutorial

Hello, friends!

It’s Nancy here with a fun new project!

Today I’m sharing a tutorial on how I create my flowers,

using the fabulous Rolled Paper Flowers SVG File from the shop!

All the papers I used are from the  Spring Polka Dots Digital Paper Pack.

Here are my flowers:

Roller Paper Flowers Tutorial

Here’s how I made them:

Screen Shot 2022 08 10 at 3.13.19 PM

I began by printing the green polka dot paper.

I then used my Cricut Explore Air to cut a variety of leaves

from the Rolled Flowers File.

Screen Shot 2022 08 10 at 3.16.56 PM

Next, I printed out three more polka dot papers: pink, purple, and yellow.

I chose the flower files that I wanted to cut and uploaded them to Cricut Design Space.

I sized each of my flowers at 5″, so I could fit two flowers on each page.

I then cut them all out.

Screen Shot 2022 08 10 at 3.19.08 PM

Then I assembled some of my favorite flower-making tools:

  • ink and applicator (makeup sponge works great)
  • a foam mat (mouse pad would work),
  • quilling tool (skewer would work),
  • round stylus (paint brush or pen would work if it’s smooth and round),
  • tweezers (just tweezers).

Although I am showing how I made the yellow daisy-type flower,

I follow the same steps for each of my rolled flowers.

Rolled Flowers

I begin by inking the edges on the rolled flower piece,

as well as the leaves.

Rolled Flowers

I place my flower-cut face down on my foam mat.

Then I run my stylus over each petal, using just a little bit of pressure.

Screen Shot 2022 08 10 at 3.27.28 PM

See how the petals are all curled back?

You want a nice smooth curl.

Rolled Flowers

Now it’s time to roll the flower.

For this flower, I just rolled it with my fingers.

Tweezers or a quilling tool work great for this step, especially if you want a tighter flower.

Roll the flower up until you get the center circle.

I added a dollop of wet glue to the circle, pressed the rolled part into it,

and held it for a few seconds.

If you want a looser flower, then just release the roll until it’s the size you want.

Screen Shot 2022 08 10 at 3.30.30 PM

Here is my daisy flower, right after it’s been glued.

It hasn’t been shaped or arranged yet but it’s still cute! ;o)

Those are my steps for every rolled flower:

ink, shape, roll, and glue.

Once the glue has dried, I then go in with my tweezers and do a little more adjusting.

Here are the cuts I used, followed by the finished flowers.

Screen Shot 2022 08 10 at 3.32.33 PM

This…

…became this:

Rolled Paper Rose and Daisy

The daisy flower on the right is the one I used in my sample.

It looks a little bit different now that it has been arranged.

I’ve added the leaves and a pearl center.

Screen Shot 2022 08 10 at 3.35.57 PM

This…

…became this:

Roller Paper Flowers

The addition of leaves and pearls really finishes them off nicely.

I did use a quilling tool on the left-hand flower,

but then I loosened it up for the outside rolls.

Screen Shot 2022 08 10 at 3.39.10 PM

This…

…became this:

Rolled Paper Flowers

Again, it’s just a matter of inking, shaping rolling, and gluing!

I did use a quilling tool for the left-hand flower,

as I wanted a tighter roll.

I’ve only shown you half of the flowers in this file.

There are 12 in total and they are all so pretty and fun!

Grab the file and try making some for yourself.

Try different sizes and different materials.

Handmade flowers are like snowflakes,

each one is unique! :o)

School Art Fridge Magnets Craft Idea

Hey everybody! Leslie here and thanks for joining me on the blog today! I have a super easy and fast project to share with you today.

Every parent needs refrigerator magnets to attach their kids’ art work from school, so that was my inspiration for this project using the Back To School SVG Scrap Kit

I typically use the separated SVG files, cut the pieces with my Scan N Cut, and assemble the projects. I did something a little different this time and used the PNG clipart files to print and cut.

Print and Cut

I picked out the six images from the Back To School SVG Scrap Kit that I wanted to use for the magnets.

Following my machine’s instructions for Print To Cut projects, I printed the images on Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock and cut the outlines.

I cut just the outlines several more times from 110# Solar White cardstock. The photo shows three additional cuts but I ended up cutting them four more times.

Assemble Magnet Bases

I then adhered the cuts one on top of each other to make each magnet base thick and strong.

Complete Project

The finishing touch was adding two disc magnets on the back of each one.

How to Make a First Day of School Chalkboard Sign

1 DIY Back to School Chalboard Sign
How to Make a First Day of School Chalkboard Sign

Hi everyone, Kris here!

I can not believe that summer is half over here in Canada. Within a blink of an eye it will be back to school!  For that reason, I made my daughter this First Day Of School Chalkboard sign using the First Day of School Chalkboard Sign SVG Cut File to use for her first day of Kindergarten!

The SVG file comes with pre-set designs and also comes with a click a drag feature to allow you to design your own chalkboard, putting the design elements and information that you want for your personal style!

My daughter sat on my lap while working through Cricut Design Space to create her chalkboard.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • First Day of School Chalkboard Sign SVG Kit
  • Chalkboard Sign, I used the Make Market brand from Michaels Canada
  • Oracal 651 permanent vinyl
  • Transfer tape
  • Cutting machine (I use the Cricut Maker)
  • I also used small scraps of cardstock, but this is totally optional – you could totally use all vinyl if you wanted to!
  • Precision Point Adhesive Pen

Have fun and enjoy creating this project with your little ones!

Under the Sea Mermaid Scrapbook Layout

Hola!!

Kavya here with an Under the Sea Mermaid scrapbook layout with some beautiful cut files. Basically I am into Scrapbooking, so I love to make albums and layouts, cards more.

Here is my Under the Sea Theme Scrapbook Layout. This would be an attractive scrapbook cover – or can used as inner pages too!

Making Process :

I took a 8 x 10 inch scrapbook paper which matches my cut files.

I made random size rosette with blue shades of cardstock. In the middle of my rosettes, I have used the bubble cut files from Printable Cuttable Creatables.

sea theme scrapbook layout

I also used the bubbles to decorate my entire layout page. It’s a simple scrapbook layout, so i just used Print & Cut for most of the cut files.

under the sea scrapbook layout

If you have a closer look at my bubble cut file you can see it is 2 layers. I added that as a side border to the layout

ocean mermaid scrapbook layout

The Mermaid cut file clearly defines the theme and adds extra beauty. I used only the outer layer (Print & Cut) but the file includes layers so you can layer it too!

mermaid scrapbook idea

I used the Waves SVG cut files as a corner border and also attached seaweed cut files

I Used 3D tape to all the cut outs to add dimension.

After sticking the fish cut files, I attached my rosettes to give a finished look.

Campfires & Cocktails – HTV Custom T-shirt How-to

Campfires & Cocktails – HTV Custom T-shirt How-to

Hello!  Kris here!  In today’s video, I will show you how I took inspiration from a t-shirt design online and put my own spin on things using 2 cut files from Printable Cuttable Creatables:

Cozy Campfire SVG

and

Drink in My Hand Toes in the Sand SVG

This is one of my favorite things about crafting….seeing something I like and making it my own, unique style!

Here’s What You’ll Need:

campfires cocktails htv shirt idea

Some important things to remember, when you are layering vinyl, it is key to do quick presses for each layer, and one final longer press at the end.

Also if you are using glitter vinyl – keep it as a single layer.  You can not put regular vinyl on top of glitter vinyl, so I try to keep my glitter vinyl as my last layering piece.

campfires cocktails svg htv tshirt idea

I hope that you enjoyed this project as much as I enjoyed creating it and love wearing it!  The possibilities for these cut files are truly endless.  I’m already dreaming up a cute s’mores card and a s’mores t-shirt!

Thank you for joining me today, I can’t wait to see what you create with these cut files!

Cute Kitten Slimline Card Idea

cute kitten slimline card making idea
cute kitten slimline card making idea

Hey everybody! Leslie here and thanks for joining me on the blog today. My husband and I are crazy cat people and we rescue, so you will undoubtedly see cat-themed posts from time to time.

The slimline card I’m sharing today features the super adorable Pouncing Cat and Yarn Basket SVG files from the amazing Purrr-fect Pals Cat SVG Bundle. OMGoodness, there are a whopping 29 files in this bundle and if you are a fellow cat lover, then you’re sure to find some whimsical kitties and accessories that you just can’t live without!

I had birthday in mind when I created this card but it really could be used for just about any celebratory event.

cute kitten slimline card inspiration

I cut a 3-3/4″ x 9″ slimline card base from heavyweight white cardstock along with a wood-look patterned paper layering panel which I adhered to the card base.

I cut all the pieces from the Pouncing Cat and Yarn Basket SVG files (both from the Purrr-fect Pals Cat SVG Bundle) from lighter weight white cardstock and colored them with alcohol markers. This was something a little different than cutting the pieces from colored cardstock which I typically do.

I cut the inside panel from white cardstock, and embellished it with leftover patterned paper used on the front and a narrow strip of charcoal brown cardstock. I stamped another sentiment in brown ink and layered the panel on the charcoal brown cardstock.

Floral Doily Card

Floral Doily Card Inspiration
Floral Doily Card

Hello, my friends!

It’s Nancy here with you today!

This was such a fun card to make!
I used two files from the PCC shop:

Here’s my card:

IMG 4583

Isn’t that pretty?
I cut the doily base out of the teal cardstock,
and then cut the lace layer from white cardstock
Both layers were then added to my circle card base.

IMG 4584
I used the Print then Cut feature with this pretty floral wreath file.
I sized it to fit into the center of my doily card,
and adhered it in place with foam tape.

IMG 4587

I then used my Shimmer Marker on all the flowers to add some sparkle.

Finally, I added Nuvo Drops to some of the flowers.

I think this is such a great combination of files!
It makes such a pretty card!
I know I’ll be using them again and again!
