Ciao friends! I’m peeking in from Morena’s Corner to share a cute and quick ornament idea that you can make using Printable Cuttable Creatables files!
Cactus Valentine Box Supplies Used
- Cactus Hugs SVG File
- White Cardboard Sheet
- xTool (or can use an cutting machine that will engrave/score)
- Plaid Crafts Watercolor Acrylics
- Cardboard Box
- Green Cardstock
- Xyron Tape Runner
I used my xTool D1 Pro to score the assembled SVG design and to cut the outline
Then I used the watercolor acrylic paints to fill in the cute design. With these paints you can use them as-is for full color, or add water to dilute them and create watercolors. The more water you add, the lighter the color will be.
This would be a fun project for kids to do to make their own Valentine box! Watercolors are supposed to run and muddle, so it takes away the pressure of coloring perfectly in the lines with crayons or markers!
Let the design dry and then remove it from the cardboard sheet. (I goofed with my cut settings so it didn’t cut all the way out, but I just had to trim a little to get the design out.) Save the extra cardboard and hand-cut it into small spikes for the box.
Choose a cardboard box (shoe boxes or pantry packages are perfect) and cut an opening in the top. Cover the box with green cardstock paper.
Glue the cute cactus on the front of the box, and then add all the little cardboard “spikes” around this. You can add the child’s name to the back or sides of this adorable Valentine box!
Happy Crafting!
