I’m swimming over from Morena’s Corner to share this fun vintage inspired project with you. I just got back from the beach and have the ocean on my mind, as the sign shows!
I used the Take Me to the Ocean SVG File to create this vintage style beach sign. After I cut it out using my xTool laser cutter, I put transfer tape on the back of the cut wood sheet and put all the pieces in place, so the tape would hold it all together.
Next I used FolkArt Watercolor Gelz Acrylic Paints in various colors to give the wood a vintage look. Add a little water to the paint and brush it onto the wood. The color is vibrant but the wood grain shows through, giving it a vintage style appearance.
Once the paint has dried, press another piece of transfer tape onto the front of the design. You will use this to remove the design from the wood and transfer it, just like you do with vinyl. In this case, put glue on the back of the wood before transferring the design to the round wood plaque.
This cut sign is perfect to hang poolside or in your beach themed home like I did! Have fun crafting and creating with Printable Cuttable Creatables files this summer!
Happy crafting!
