Happy December! I’m dropping in from Morena’s Corner to share this cute snowy day sled ornament craft idea. This is the perfect project to make when it’s cold outside!
Sled Ornaments Supplies
- Baby It’s Cold Outside SVG File
- Wood Sled (from Dollar Tree)
- Silver Spray Paint
- Vinyl in Royal Blue, Sky Blue, and Silver
- Embellishments (ribbon, bells, etc.)
Remove the twine from the wood sled and spray paint it silver. Set it aside to dry and add the twine back after it has dried.
I used the separated SVG so that I could cut the elements from different colors. I cut the text from the darkest blue vinyl, and then I cut the snowflake parts from the lighter blue and silver vinyl sheets.
These elements have lots of tiny details, and I’ve found that it can be easier to reverse weed vinyl so that you don’t damage the design or lose lots of little pieces. Reverse weeding is when you apply the transfer tape to the cut vinyl and weed the design from the sticky side. This way the vinyl you want will stay on the transfer tape while you remove the parts you don’t want.
Add the text to the sled first.
I layered the snowflakes first and then added them to the sled.
Once the design was in place I embellished the sled top by tying on a few items like some greenery, a tulle bow, a small ornament and a bell.
I love how the look of the ornament helps capture the mood of the saying. Baby, it’s cold outside!
