S’mores Pillow Cover Tips

Hi friends! I’m here with some s’mores pillow cover tips for decorating a pillow cover with a s’mores design. We recently returned from a cross-country road trip, during which we camped at several locations, including Grand Canyon National Park. Although this would look great on a shirt — I like to read in my tent before sleep, and I take a throw pillow along to help prop me up. This was such a cute design for that!

Supplies Used:

• I’m a Hot Mess S’mores SVG Cut File
• Pillow Cover (I used 18×18”)
• Pillow Insert (I just use ones I already have)
• Heat Transfer Vinyl in your choice of colors
• Heat Transfer Vinyl in White Puff for marshmallow (optional)
• Parchment Paper if using puff vinyl (do not use Teflon sheets with puff)
• Electronic Cutter, such as Cricut or Silhouette Cameo
• Heat Press or home iron – Puff works much better with a press

Bring the SVG file into your cutting machine software. Resize to the desired size. Pillow cover is 18×18 inches, but my cutting mat is 12×12 inches, so I cover the mat with the design.

Separate the layers of the design. Duplicate the text to add a shadow effect in either black or white vinyl. Mirror the entire design horizontally. Cut each element out with the electronic cutter in the colors you choose.

Cut each element out with the electronic cutter in the colors you choose. Apply each layer to your pillow cover according to the vinyl manufacturer’s settings, except the marshmallow and the face. For the text, first press the shadow, slightly off center, then apply the text in the correct alignment. Be sure to use Teflon paper or parchment paper on your pillow cover while pressing the layers.

Apply the puff vinyl next, following the manufacturer’s directions. Apply the face to the top of the puff vinyl and use parchment paper to cover it during pressing. Teflon paper does not agree with Puff vinyl.

Place the pillow insert inside the cover, and you’re done!
