Hi there, it’s Dorlene and I’m sharing a really fun Retro Skate Card Tutorial using the Vintage Roller Skate image. Follow my instructions to turn a single image into a shaped card. When I saw this vintage skate is cute, I knew I wanted to showcase it! The first thing I did was duplicate the image. Once duplicated, I selected the Unite function so all the pieces would become one. (These photos are from the Cricut app on my phone, so yours may look a little different)

Next, I duplicated the full image and flipped it using the vertical flip function.
Once flipped, I placed the flipped skate to the top of the unflipped skate and then used the Unite function again to make this into the shaped card. You need to make sure to get the images to overlap but not so much where the size of the skate is different.

Once I created the card base, I used the line in Basic Shapes and changed it from a cut line to a score line and attached it to where the two skates meet. Before resizing, I moved the image with all the details to the top of the shaped card and grouped it. This Retro Skate Card Tutorial creates a card that’s approximately 4.5×5″ and will fit in a square envelope perfectly. As always, I layer the pieces to the base first before adding adhesive..

You probably noticed the cut lines on the card base which I should have removed when creating it.
I saw them but thought it would be fine. Once I created it, I felt it needed more stability so I went back to Cricut Design Space and when I combined the image, I removed those cut lines by both the contour button and by moving the images just a hair closer so they overlapped.
I cut out one solid base in white and attached it to the back of the card.

Here’s the final card from our Retro Skate Card Tutorial. I love the bright and slightly retro colors I used to create the skate. It is such a fun card to give out.
