Paint Ready Canvas Tips

Hi there, it’s Dorlene, and I have an easy project for you today with these paint-ready canvas tips. I’ve been spending a lot of time this summer with my granddaughters doing all sorts of crafty things, and this one was probably my favorite.

I uploaded the Doodle Mushroom Garden SVG to make paint-ready canvases for them. This cut file comes with three different images. The first was with paper, the second for vinyl, and the third, which is what I used, was line drawing.

After ungrouping the set, use the trash icon to remove the top two image sets.

At that point, ungroup the line drawing image so you can move items around, flip, duplicate, etc. You don’t have to do this step, but I customized mine by duplicating the mushroom with the ladybug and flipping the snail image.

Next, I grouped all the pieces that I wanted to be bottom-aligned. Once aligned, use the attach function to attach these images. I did not include the butterflies since I wanted those to manually place the butterflies on the 8 x 10 canvas. By attaching the other images, they will cut out as is.

Once everything is aligned and sized, the images are ready to cut. Click the make button at the top right to mirror and select your material type.

Continue, cut, and weed.

Decide where you’ll place the image on the canvas.

Using a press or dry iron, press the HTV to the canvas. Use high temp and press two times at 45 seconds each. I had to apply a lot of pressure for the HTV to adhere well.

I have to tell you, it may be because my canvases were inexpensive, but it let off a smell that stung my eyes. Make sure you’re in a well-ventilated area while pressing these.

These paint-ready canvas tips help you create canvases that are now ready for some paint! This is an easy project for artists of all ages and levels.

This design is so clever and eliminates any guesswork on image placement. It basically folds up into a Z shape. Again, use the bone folder to crease the score lines.
