DIY Thanksgiving Turkey Cake Topper

Hello crafters! Thanksgiving is a time for gathering, gratitude, and, of course, good food! While the turkey may be the star of the dinner table, desserts deserve their moment to shine too. Whether you’re baking a classic pumpkin spice cake, a rich chocolate torte, or fun cupcakes for the kids, a themed cake topper adds personality and meaning to your holiday treats.

This year, why not add a charming and heartfelt detail to your dessert with a DIY Thanksgiving Turkey Cake Topper featuring the word “Thankful”?

Materials & Tools:

For this project, I used two  SVG files from Printable Cuttable Creatables

• Thanksgiving Pilgrim Turkey SVG Cut File & Clipart
• Thankful Autumn Heart SVG File
• Cricut Maker 3
• Cardstock (in fall colors)
• Foam Tape
• Adhesive
• Acrylic Stick

Step by Step Instructions:

1. Step 1: Upload Your Files

The SVG files are ready to use, making this a quick and easy project. Simply upload both files into Cricut Design Space.

Step 2: Customize Your Design

Resize the turkey and “Thankful” text as desired. I chose to use only the word “Thankful” from the heart design and removed the surrounding leaves.

To give the text a layered look, I added an offset layer behind the word.

Step 3: Cut Your Design

Select your cardstock colors, place them on the cutting mat, and let the Cricut Maker 3 do the work. Make sure your settings match the material type (especially if using glitter or textured cardstock).

Step 4: Assemble the Topper

Layer the turkey pieces and “Thankful” text using foam tape for dimension and adhesive for a secure hold.

Once everything is assembled, attach the acrylic stick to the back using strong glue or foam tape.

Thanksgiving is all about connection and gratitude. A turkey cake topper with the word “Thankful” is more than just a decoration; it’s a beautiful reminder of what the holiday is truly about.
