Hi friends! I don’t know about you but I really fail at decorating the house for summer. Once Easter is gone, I tend to not change things up until fall gets here. I’m trying this year to change that. I saw this swimsuit SVG design and thought it would make a fun DIY summer garland idea.

Supplies Used:

  • Summer Swimsuits SVG Files
  • Electronic Cutter, such as Cricut or Silhouette Cameo
  • Printer
  • Scissors or paper Trimmer
  • String
  • Glue
  • Cardstock in various colors and patterns
  • Clear acetate (scraps are perfect!)

I chose to have each swimsuit in a different color. I imagined a swim party with friends where all the swimsuits were hanging out to dry—of course, they would all be different!

Bring the SVG file into your cutting machine software. Resize to the desired size. I chose about 5 inches tall. I will make one of each swimsuit style.

Ungroup and cut each swimsuit out with the desired papers.

Assemble the swimsuits that have multiple pieces. For the two-piece swimsuits, I cut scrap pieces of clear acetate to connect them. I used two pieces of acetate for most styles to prevent them from spinning or turning. I used a one-piece swimsuit to help determine how big it should be so that each suit would be about 5 inches tall. Glue the acetate to the back of the swimsuit.

Cut a string to be the length needed for where you want to display it. Space the swimsuits out on the string and glue to the string. Let dry and hang!
