DIY School Bus Card Idea

Hello everyone! Aarthi here, with a DIY school bus card idea for back-to-school themed projects. My little one will be starting pre-school soon, and he is obsessed with yellow school buses, so I decided to make a card featuring the bus as the main element. I have used the School Bus Gift Card Holder SVG File for my card. Though it is a gift card holder, I made a few changes to the SVG to use it for my card. Continue reading to learn how I achieved this.

The following are the steps to make the card using Cricut Design Space:

Ungroup the SVG first. Then ungroup the highlighted element and delete the gift card holder cuts (marked in green) on the side.

Import the SVG to Cricut Design Space.

Then, ungroup the highlighted element in the picture below, and delete the base, except for the cuts marked in green for the tires.

Replace the “Thank You” sentiment that comes with the SVG with a “SCHOOL BUS” text – Pen Operation, 0.4 Black Fine point pen.

Insert a rectangle in size 3.5″ × 4.75″ and attach the sentiment – “You’re going to do great” text – Pen operation, 0.4 Black Fine point pen.

Proceed with the cut. Glue all the parts together and then mount it on the cut card base using double-sided tape for some dimension. Finally use a 4.25″ × 5.5″ (A2) cardstock as base and voila, our card is done!

This DIY school bus card idea is perfect for encouraging little ones as they begin their school journey!
