Hi there, it’s Dorlene with a fun project for book lovers – well anyone who loves a cute tote too! I used the Love Birds E081 SVG file from Printable Cuttable Creatables website for my project. When I uploaded it onto the canvas in Design Space, I noticed a black box and a black base of the main image. Since I didn’t need them, I removed them from the canvas by selecting the images and then click on the trash can icon.
I did not need a base image since I am going to use HTV for my project today. The black base would be perfect if I was using cardstock!

This is what my canvas looks like now.

At this point, I’m going to use the Text tool to create my text. I’m going to use this as a book bag so I typed “to read” and “Book Tote”. I also decided to ungroup the image so I could move the hearts to the side of the words “to read”, basically so it read as Love To Read.
The words “Book tote” will be on the back of the tote bag. A tip when cutting words with HTV, if you don’t Attach them prior to cutting the letters will be all over the place on the cutting mat. By attaching them, the words will cut out in the correct order.

After adjusting the size, I clicked on the Make button and before I started cutting the HTV, I made sure to mirror each of the mats! I’m so glad that Cricut also gives you a reminder!

Now that all the pieces are cut, I layered them and then used my Heat Press to iron all the pieces together.
Here’s the before:

Here’s how it looks now. Don’t you love it?

What a great image and what a great book tote! I can’t wait to use it when going to my Book Club gatherings and to the library!
