3 Ways to Make DIY Laser Cut Earrings

Ciao amici! I’m stopping by from Morena’s Corner to show you three ways you can make gorgeous DIY laser cut earrings using just one file from Printable Cuttable Creatables! This file comes with a variety of stunning earring SVG designs that you can customize in different ways.

Wood Scroll Earrings

First up is the quickest and most natural looking method! I used Walnut Plywood  to make these beautiful earrings. Simply open the SVG file in your cutting machine’s design program. Choose the design you want to use and make it the desired size. Then cut the wood using the best settings for your device.

If you end up with a little char on the edges of the scroll earrings you can use a Magic Eraser to clean the wood.

Gold Laminate Earrings

I used heat transfer vinyl to make these super shiny earrings! If you are cutting with a diode laser, make sure you choose a HTV that is laser safe! First you iron the HTV onto the basswood. Then you cut the design from the wood

Finally, add your earring findings and you’re done! This method is faster than painting and the shiny metallic HTV is incredible!

Glitter Vinyl Earrings

I wanted to put some sparkle in the openings of the scroll earrings, and this was an easy way to do that. 

Open the desired design in your machine’s design program and create two versions of the earring design: one regular and one mirrored. This will make the front and back of the earring. Since it’s two pieces of wood I used 1/16 inch basswood and pre-painted it. Then I cut the design.

After that I cut the outline of the earrings from a sheet of acetate that was covered with transparent glitter vinyl.

Finally, I glue the glitter piece between the two pieces of wood.
