Hello there! I’m Paula from Paula’s Studio. I love to read and although I do use an e-reader, I also love to read physical books. I pick up used ones here and there. What’s more? I love making bookmarks for my books. It’s a great way to combine SVGs and art skills.

Products Used:
- Alien SVG File
- UFO SVG Cut File
- Planets SVG Cut Files
- Bristol paper or other thick paper
- Acrylic Craft Paints
- Water cup
- Paintbrush
- Clear embossing powder
- Embossing marker
- Heat gun
- Glue
- Twine or string for bookmark tassel
- Various inks and brushes for add highlights
- Electronic cutter such as from Silhouette or Cricut
Instructions:
Cut the number of bookmarks you would like to make from the Bristol using a paper trimmer or your electronic cutting machine. I chose to use the measurements 9 x 2.5″ for each bookmark.

Import the SVG or PNG file into the software for your machine. I am using Silhouette Studio software with a Cameo. I chose to use the PNG files with the Print and Cut feature. Paper piecing with the SVG files are an option also but my instruction will be for the PNG. I add a rectangle on the screen the size of my bookmarks so I can play with layout and sizing of the graphics before they are printed.

Group all the pieces together and print then cut with the electronic cutter.

Embellish the cut pieces by using ink to add details and highlights.

Use clear embossing powder by heat embossing to give shine to the alien’s eyes and the lights on the UFOs.

Paint or decorate the bookmark base to look like a starry night sky.

Glue all the elements to the bookmark base. Trim parts that hang over the edge. Add twine for the top tassel.
I would love to see bookmarks that you make!
Would you like me to create alt text for each numbered photo?
-Paula
