Hi Crafty Friends!
Today, I’m sharing another project that’s close to my heart! This month, we were given two free-to-choose themes and if you’ve been following my Printable Cuttable Creatables projects, you’ll know that my last project was cat-themed. This time, I went with food! Yes—cats, food, and crafting are basically three of my favorite things!
For today’s project, I’m sharing a tutorial on how to make this DIY Recipe Box—yes, an old-school recipe box! I actually keep a little notebook in my kitchen where I write down my tried-and-tested recipes. It has definitely seen better days though—it now has water marks, folded pages, and the pages are a little crumpled. So I thought it was time for a fun upgrade by turning my recipes into recipe cards stored in a cute handmade box instead!

I absolutely love how this DIY Recipe Box turned out. It’s functional, pretty, and adds such a sweet handmade touch to the kitchen. Plus, it makes organizing recipes so much easier!

Materials Needed
- White cardstock
- Pattern Paper – I used Printable Cuttable Creatables’ Spring Polka Dots Digital Paper Pack

- CutterPillar Crease Score Board

- Scissors
- Floral embellishments
- Cooking-themed cutouts – I used Printable Cuttable Creatables’ Kitchen Bundle and Baking Collection

Instructions
Making the Box
Score your white 11 x 8.5 cardstock at 3 inches and 10 inches on the long side, and 3 inches and 7.5 inches on the short side.

Get another cardstock of the same size and score it the same way.

Burnish all the score lines on both cardstocks.

Cut the corners of each cardstock just until the next score line. For the corner with the long strip, cut the whole corner off on both cardstocks.

Apply glue on the side of the cardstock with the thin score line.

Adhere it to the opposite side of the other cardstock.

Close and adhere to the other side as well.

Decorating the Box
Before finishing the box, decorate it with pattern paper first. Cut:
- 2 pieces measuring 6 3/4 x 4 1/4
- 2 pieces measuring 2 3/4 x 4 1/4

Adhere these to the front, back, and sides of the box.

Once the pattern papers are adhered, glue the bottom of the box together. Press from both outside and inside to ensure everything is securely adhered.

Fold and glue the top panels to the inside of the box to give it more support.

Making the Cover
Now it’s time to make the cover.
Cut a white cardstock to 9.225 x 5.1625 and score at 1 inch on all sides.

Cut the corners diagonally.

Glue the sides together to form the cover.

Decorating the Cover
Cut pattern paper in these sizes:
- 2 pieces measuring 3 x 3/4
- 1 piece measuring 3 x 7
- 2 pieces measuring 7 x 3/4

Adhere all pieces to decorate the cover.

Embellishing
Once your box and cover are done, it’s time for the fun part—embellishing!
For the cover, I added floral embellishments and die-cut an oblong shape, then added the word RECIPES using alpha stickers.
I also added the “Love to Stir Things Up” sentiment from the Kitchen Bundle to the box and finished it with a cute floral embellishment.

Making the Recipe Cards
Decorate your recipe cards! For mine, I used designs from the Kitchen Bundle and Baking Collection, arranged everything in Canva, and cut them into cards measuring 6.25 x 4.4.

And that’s it—your recipe box is done!

I really enjoyed making this project because it combines creativity with something practical. It’s such a fun way to organize favorite recipes while adding a handmade touch to your kitchen. I can already imagine filling mine with family favorites, comfort food recipes, and maybe a few dessert recipes too!
I hope this DIY Recipe Box inspires you to create your own recipe box and give your treasured recipes a beautiful new home. Thank you so much for stopping by today, and happy crafting!
