Hi there, it’s Dorlene and I have a fun project to share today using the Happy Pencil cut file.  The thing I love about Printable Cuttable Creatables’ cut files is there are multiple versions of the image in one file.  What I mean by that is there’s one for using with paper and one that works best with vinyl.  If you are familiar with using cut files, you know exactly what I mean by that.  And if you’re not, it basically cuts down on layers which you don’t want when working with vinyl.

Since I am using paper as my medium, I ungrouped the image (once I uploaded it to my canvas in Design Space) and then deleted the bottom images.  Don’t worry, even though you delete something on your canvas, it doesn’t affect the actual image in your saved images.

Regrouped the top images as seen below:

It’s best to keep all the pieces grouped so when you adjust the size, they all adjust accordingly.  I made my pencil 9” tall because I’m using it for a bulletin board at work.

I didn’t have to do anything else to this image except hit the MAKE button and cut each piece out.  I also used a gray and silver glitter papers for the green portions.

Before applying adhesive, I always layer the pieces together to make sure I have the right placement.  I used liquid adhesive for the majority of the pieces with the exception of the “metal” portion, I used foam adhesive to give it some height.

I hope this little cutie encourages people to sign up for this activity.  It will definitely help catch their attention!
